Infant Dies After Vaccination

Sircilla: A two-month-old girl died allegedly due to the negligence of a local doctor here on Wednesday. The infant was administered vaccine at Yellareddypet Primary health center after which the baby fell sick.

Bapu Reddy and Madhavi are natives of Korutlapeta. They took their two-month-old daughter to get Pentavalent vaccine administered. They shifted her to a private hospital as she fell sick after getting vaccinated.

The local doctors referred her to Karimnagar for better treatment. As her condition deteriorated, she died on her way to Karimnagar.

Kondem Druvan Reddy, another child who died after getting vaccinated was similarly taken to Hyderabad. Dasari Anvith and an other girl have been shifted to Karimnagar hospital.

The parents of the children alleged that ASHA workers vaccinated to children when ANM was not present in the hospital at the time of the incident.

District Collector D Krishna Bhaskar suspended Mandal Health officer Dr. V Meenakshi for her negligence in discharging her duties.
