Unbridled greed on the part of the owners of these places is leading them to wink at illegal activities

Anantapur: Hotels and lodges in town here have turned into safe havens for anti-social activities. Unbridled greed on the part of the owners of these places is leading them to wink at illegal activities in many places. Things have reached such a pass that these lodges and hotels have become the breeding grounds of poker, matka and prostitution. With the situation spiraling out of control, the police have come up with a novel solution to put a check to these illegal activities.

Anantapur is bustling with unlawful activities thanks to these lodges and hotels. There were around 50 lodges till recently, but there are over 70 places now. As these lodges mushroomed, so did the illegal activities their owners encouraged, to make a quick extra buck. Most of these lodges flout rules. They do not even bother to verify the customers' details. Their only priority is to ensure high occupancy of rooms in the lodge.

The situation such that a normal customer would find it difficult to rent a room. After having kept a vigil on these lodges, the Anantapur police have come up with an innovative solution to control the menace. The police have designed Lodge Monitoring System App, which will keep a tab on people coming and leaving the lodges.

The police are now getting the software installed in every lodge and hotel so that they too can keep track of what is happening in these places. Most importantly the Aadhar details of the people who come to hire the room have been made mandatory with this system. The police plan to control the unabated criminal activity in the town through this new system.
