Jagadgirigutta Constable Booked For Physical Assault, Dowry Harassment
Hyderabad: A constable was booked under dowry harassment and physical assault after his wife lodged a complaint with the Madhapur police on Friday.
The constable Wali Basha who was working at the Jagadgirigutta police station had married Hasina Bhanu in 2002. Days after marriage, Basha started demanding excess dowry from his wife. Besides harassing his wife for dowry, Basha also started tortured her for a male child despite having three daughters. Recently, Hasina delivered a baby boy and fulfilled the dream of her husband of begetting a son.
When Hasina thought this would change situation at home. She was mistaken. Basha's dowry harassment again began. He continued to thrash her repeatedly to dowry.
Unable to bear her husband's harassment, Hasina alerted the SHE teams who counselled Basha and left. But that didn't help Wasim assaulted her and threatened to kill her with a knife for calling the SHE teams.
Later, she lodged a complaint with the police who registered a case under relevant sections of IPC.
