Two Held In Hyderabad For Spreading Fake News

Hyderabad: Rumours and fake news about kidnapping gangs has led to death of few innocent people in city. They have been attacked by the local residents suspecting to them be part of the kidnapping gangs. The police have been trying to explain that all the news over the social media was fake and people need not fear. But people were in no mood to heed to police and have been chasing any suspicious person found wandering in their residential areas.

Finally, the police seem to have got a breakthrough on the people who are spreading the fake news over the social networks. Two persons identified as Mohammed Ashwaq (21) and Syed Rahim (21) of Pahadishareef have been arrested for forwarding videos and audio clips which contained fake news about the kidnapping gangs in city.

The police traced Ashwaq, when a journalist informed that he had received a video and audio clip from Ashwaq on his WhatsApp. The video showed few dead bodies and others injured. The audio clip asked everyone to forward so that people would be alter. The police said the fake information forwarded without verifying had created fear among the people.

The police arrested the duo and deleted the content from their mobile phones. A case has been booked and police are investigating.
