Man Offers Alcohol Mixed Drink to Woman Before Raping Her  

Chennai: Three people were arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman at Dharmapuri district in Tamil Nadu.

Getting into the details, the woman is a native of Morappur village, Aroor mandal of Dharmapuri. Though she got married sometime ago, the woman was staying with her widowed mother, who is suffering from speech impairment. Meanwhile, the woman met Nayeem at a hospital where her grandfather was admitted due to some illness.

She frequently visited the hospital to look after her grandfather and also to meet Nayeem. On April 29, Nayeem proposed marriage to her and following her consent, took her to a lodge in Salem.

Nayeem offered a cool drink mixed with alcohol to the woman. When she fell unconscious, he sexually assaulted her. He did not stop it there, but then called his brother Nafiz and friend Ranjith to rape her. They also snatched her ATM card and threatened to kill her mother if she disclosed the matter to anyone.

The woman however escaped from the place and lodged a complaint with the police, who arrested the trio. The offenders were remanded to custody.
