Jaipur: Situation Gambhir hai, Yuvi! If that's how you could sum up the position of Indian star batsmen Yuvaraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir. Star Players are up for auction for the upcoming Indian Premier League, 12th season, which is set to take place on December 18 in Jaipur. The auction might see the omission of a few star players who have been playing the T20 matches for quite a few years and which might also put an end to their IPL careers.

Various IPL franchises have already named their lists (retention and releases) earlier this month on November 15 where some tough decisions were taken to exclude big names for the next edition.

The list includes India's star batsmen Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir, who might not make it to the 12th IPL edition. The bottom line is—an end to their IPL Cricket career.

Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh, who was already dropped from Kings XI Punjab’s last league match in the previous IPL, has played only seven List A matches. With a poor batting performance, he has hit only 65 runs in 8 matches at an average of 10.83 and has scored just one half-century for Punjab which could lead to his exclusion from the team.News is that Yuvraj Singh is all set to play his first Ranji Trophy game as he has joined his home team Punjab team ahead of its tie against Nitish Rana-led Delhi at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi.

Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir, who was instrumental in helping the Kolkata Knight Riders win two IPL titles, had a disastrous season with Delhi Daredevils in the previous year, where he was supposed to help the team . He managed to win just one out of the six matches, and stayed away from the team for the rest of the season. If there is a chance for inclusion of Gambhir, then it could only be for his highest score of 518 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy

Mohammed Shami

The other Indian cricketer who could face the axe is Mohammed Shami, who represents Bengal in domestic cricket. He also didn't have a great IPL run with the Delhi Daredevils, where the fast bowler managed to take only four wickets in three matches at an average of 48. He gave in 10.40 runs per over in the competition. The 28-year-old who played his last T20 in July 2017, hasn’t been seen in any matches since April 2018.

With the national elections to be held in the country next year, the dates of IPL 12 are yet to be finalized. Rumours are that the IPL may be held outside India with South Africa most likely to be selected as the venue.
