CP's leave not linked to Call Money Scam: AP DGP

Andhra Pradesh DGP JV Ramudu said that there was no link between call money racket case and Vijayawada police commissioner Gowtham Sawang going on leave. He said Sawang had applied for leave a month ago and his leave is not linked to the case.

It may be recalled that amid revelations of involvement of TDP leaders in the Call Money scam, Vijayawada police commissioner Gautam Sawang went on a 15-day leave. The state DGP immediately approved the leave application submitted by Gautam in the morning and posted Surendra Babu in his place as an in-charge commissioner. All this took place when the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was holding a meeting of district collectors at his office where he claimed to be taking strict action against those involved in the Call Money scam.
Responding to the Call Money sex racket issue, JV Ramudu said none would be spared in the scam. Talking to mediapersons on Tuesday afternoon, he said strict action would be taken against those who were resorting to excesses and harassment of women over non-payment of loans.
"Every complaint in the Call Money case would be taken seriously. We are conducting raids across the state to weed out racketeers,"JV Ramudu said. He said already Buddha Nageswara Rao, Samudrala Nageswara Rao and Lankalapalli Satish have been arrested. Promissary notes, bikes and cash worth Rs 7 lakh were recovered from them.
