Hyderabad: A 9-year-old class III student was thrashed by English teacher of a private school for failing to do the home work he was assigned resulting some serious weals on his back.

The kid, identified as Bhavish, who resides with his grandparents at Alwal, is studying in 3rd standard at Bhashyam School in the same locality. On Thursday, the boy returned his home from school and complained his grandmother of pain on his back. When she checked it after removing the shirt, she found the injuries on the kid’s back. After the boy told her about being cruelly caned by his English teacher Shiju Abraham for not doing home work, she informed the boy’s grandfather G Shankar, who rushed Bhavish to hospital.

After the boy returned his home from school, complained his grandmother of pain on his back. When she checked it after removing the shirt, she found the injuries on the kid’s back. After the boy told her about being cruelly caned by his English teacher Shiju Abraham for not doing home work, she informed the boy’s grandfather G Shankar, who rushed Bhavish to hospital.

Later, the couple lodged a complaint with the Alwal police against the barbarian act. Police filed a case under 324 IPC (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and under the Juvenile Justice Act.

The investigating officer said, “We have taken up the case and will grill the school teacher and staff about the injuries inflicted on the kid’s body. Meanwhile, the Balala Hakkula Sangham also demanded a stringent action against the teacher and the school as well as justice to the boy condemning the brutal act. However, the school management is not available to comment on the incident.
