Unusual price hike - Rs86 on subsidized cylinder and Rs120 on non-subsidized one

New Delhi: The price of non-subsidised cooking gas (LPG), which customers buy after consuming their quota of subsidised cylinders, was hiked by a steep Rs86 per bottle on Wednesday due to rising crude oil cost in the international markets.

The 14.2-kg cooking gas cylinder that consumers buy beyond their entitled 12 bottles at subsidised rates, will now cost Rs 737.50 in Delhi, state-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) said.

However, there will be no impact on the LPG consumers receiving subsidised refills.

To illustrate with an example, the consumer will pay Rs 737.50 for a new refill in Delhi w.e.f. 1st March, 2017 and will receive subsidy amount of Rs 303 in his/ her account and the net price for the consumer will be Rs 434.93, which remains unchanged.
