Her body was discovered at Bhimadolu on Friday afternoon and was sent for post mortem at Eluru hospital.

Swati hails from Kurellagudem Village and is the second child of Lanka Lakshmi and Anjaneya. She married a city-based Satyavarapu Veeraraju, who works as a constable on March 10 last year. At the time of wedding, Swati’s parents had given the groom Rs 4 lakh cash, a Pulsar bike and other items worth Rs2 lakh in dowry.

The couple led a happy life for couple of months, but after sometime Veeraraju started harassing Swati to get additional dowry. Unable to bear his torture, she had come back to her parents’ house ten days ago. Her parents said that harassment pushed Swati to take the extreme step and blamed her husband for their daughter’s death.

“After Swati came to our house, he neither called her not responded to her messages. He harassed her physically and mentally demanding additional dowry because of which she committed suicide,” Swati’s mother Lakshmi said.
