Congress suffers from a surprise setback in Seemandhra!

Congress's position in residuary Andhra can be compared to that of a sinking ship. As its fate plummets, many leaders are quitting Congress to deflect to other parties with brighter futures. But the biggest blow for the party came on Monday when Velampalli Srinivas quit the party.  The timing of his exit has surprised many. 

On Sunday, Congress released list of candidates for Seemandhra for Assembly polls. Velampalli Srinivas's name was also there, as he was given ticket to contest from  Vijayawada West constituency.  Just hours after the list was revealed, he announced his resignation.  

Interestingly, he is Chiranjeevi's loyalist and won MLA seat on PRP ticket in 2009 elections.  This time around as well, Chiranjeevi is said to have finalized his seat. However, Velampalli chose to deflect to BJP, instead.  

Vellampalli joined the saffron party today and is likely to contest from Vijayawada West. 

With his exit, Congress is now struggling to find a candidate for Vijayawada West.
