Congress split wide open!

Although group politics is the order of the day in Congress, looks like it has reached its peak this time around.

A classic case in point is what happened in Ananthapur district.
By now, it's public knowledge that there are internal rifts within the Congress party. Some examples to substantiate the statement are...

  •  Infighting between Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Deputy Chief minister Damodar Rajanarasimha is well known
  • It is also an established fact that PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana and Union minister K Chiranjeevi are no more on friendly terms
  • Jaipal Reddy's absence during the recently held Metro inauguration event has also brought his differences with the CM into the open
  • Union minister D Purandheswari and Rajya Sabha member T Subbarami Reddy are two longtime rivals
  • Minister DK Aruna and Nagarkurnool MP Manda Jagannadham in Mahbubnagar district are old time enemies
  • Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana and MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao have also formed their own groups within the party
  • How can one forget Kishore Chandra Deo's note to Sonia calling Botsa a 'mafia don' and CM Kiran 'incompetent'
  • It may be recalled that minister Sailajanath and former minister JC Diwakar Reddy did not attend Revenue Minister Raghuveera Reddy and MP Ananthavenkata Reddy's Bhageeratha padayatra. The only surprising attendance was marked by Chiranjeevi, who has no connection with Ananthapur district. Everybody knows that Raghuveera Reddy and JC Diwakar Reddy do not see eye-to-eye. Diwakar Reddy's absence shows that the feud is far from over.
  • The latest and the most recent case in point is the disagreement between DL Ravindra Reddy and CM Kiran over allowing the CBI to prosecute Dharmana Prasada Rao.

Thus, the rift within the Congress Party is there for everyone to see. It's no more a secret that the members within the party do not hold their colleagues in high regard.
Every top leader in the state Congress has created his own group within the party. With the kind of division, the party's future prospects looks bleak and the outcome in the upcoming election is anyone's guess!
