CM KCR campaigns for Medak bypoll

Medak, Seeking to counter opposition criticism that no concrete work has been done in 100 days after the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) came to power, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said here on Wednesday that all welfare and development schemes would be implemented effectively.

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ponnala Lakshmaiah says nothing happened in three months. Yes, nothing has happened. Had it been your Congress government, you would have swallowed three or four thousand crores or rupees. We cannot do such things, he said.

Observing that it required thorough study to take stock of things in the newly-created state, he said that the fruits of many programmes would be available from Dasara (early October) onwards. He was speaking at an election meeting held at Narsapur in Medak district, in support of TRS nominee for Medak Lok Sabha bypoll, K Prabhakar Reddy.

The by-election, scheduled to be held on September 13, has been necessitated by Rao's resignation after he became Telangana Chief Minister.

Whether it is budget preparation or implementation of programmes (by TRS government), it is for Telangana people. It will be towards achieving a golden Telangana, Rao said.

Training his guns on the BJP, Rao asked, Why should people vote for the saffron party which gave away several mandals (of Khammam district to residuary Andhra Pradesh for the Polavaram irrigation project) and provided more power to Andhra Pradesh? He alleged that candidates put up by both Congress and the BJP-TDP combine were rejected by the people during legislative assembly elections held over three months ago.

Rao asserted that farmers' loan waiver would be implemented as promised by TRS during elections. Schemes like 'Kalyana Laxmi', two-bedroom house for the poor, Rs 1,000 social security pensions, opening of toddy shops in Hyderabad, making tribal habitations panchayats, which were announced by the TRS government, would be implemented effectively, he said.
