The class 3 student has suffered 80 per cent injuries and is battling for life at the Gandhi Hospital. The boy studies at the government primary school in Serlipally under Srirangapur mandal in Wanarpathy district. His father Naganna said the boy took the extreme step as the teacher insulted at him in front of his classmates and beat him up.

A case has been registered in this connection. Kothakota inspector B. Somnarayana Singh said the teacher has switched off his phone and is absconding. Meanwhile, NGO Balala Hakkula Sangham president Achyuta Rao, sought action against the teacher seeking immediate suspension of the teacher.

"If we do not change our approach to educating these children, there is much more violence in store. The students are reacting this way purely because the amount of mental stress we put on them has a tipping point," Achyuta Rao added.

Incidentally, the incident comes weeks after State Human Rights Commission commented on the rise of cases pertaining to the abuse of the students.
