A gang of six, including a jeweller, who allegedly robbed two kilograms of gold biscuits from a jewellery shop employee here a fortnight ago, were arrested by the police, who recovered 1.8 kg of the booty.

Efforts are on to recover the remaining gold which was converted to ornaments and sold, a senior police officer said.
The accused V Bikshapathi, who runs a jewellery shop in Madikonda in Warangal district along with five others, were arrested from different locations here, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma told reporters.
After incurring loss in his business, Bikshapathi hatched a plan to rob gold from one Rajeswar who is working in a jewellery shop in Nirmal town of Adilabad district.
As part of the plan, Bikshapathi and his distant relative P Praveen and the other accused, pounced upon the victim on October 15, when he was on his way to Adilabad after purchasing two kg of gold biscuits. The accused, then forced Rajeswar into a car, robbed him and abandoned him at Yousufguda locality before fleeing, the Hyderabad Police chief said.
Sleuths of Commissioner's Task Force (North Zone team) apprehended Bikshapathi, Praveen, K Gowtham and a driver, besides D Sampath, C Satyanarayana and R Srinivas, who were also previously involved in murder, attempt to murder and kidnapping cases in Warangal, Sharma said.
