City Light Hotel collapse: 15 feared dead

One more body was found under the debris. With this, the toll has touched 9.

Nine people have been killed and 23 others injured after a two-storey building collapsed on Monday morning in Secunderabad.

The effect of the collapse could have been more had it collapsed in the afternoon. The locals who were rescuing the victims said that they have found 15 dead bodies so far under the debris. They said that the collapse occurred around 6.15 am. Eye witnesses say that 15 people are dead, but officially only 9 have been declared so far. Many people are still feared trapped in the kitchen wing debris of the hotel. (Also Read)

The preliminary reports suggest that heat led to the building collapse. There were four to five big vessels found under the debris which were used for preparing Haleem.
Police suspect that huge 'Haleem battis' were placed in the second floor which might have caused the collapse.

GHMC workers are clearing the debris with the help of cranes, JCB machines and gas-cutters.
