A city-based software engineer was killed after being knocked down by a truck in Southwest Miami-Dade, USA, according to police.

A sports enthusiast, Bharath Reddy was training for next month’s Dolphins Cancer Challenge when a boat being towed by a truck hit him.

The accident took place around 8 am on Saturday at Southwest 236th Street and 87th Avenue, near Black Point Marina, a popular destination for cyclists. Another cyclist was injured in the accident. Police said the deceased was 37.

According to a report on http://www.miamiherald.com, Allen Montgomery, the director of systems and development for Baptist Health, wrote in an email to Baptist’s IT team, “It is with profound sadness that I must inform all of you that we have lost a member of our IT family this weekend. Bharath Reddy Narahari, — Reddy as we all knew him and loved him by — was involved in an accident, which tragically took his life too soon.”

Described by friends as a “joyous person”, Bharath Reddy was an active member of Team Hammerheads, a USA Triathlon club, and he also trained with Miami’s Go Run Running Club.

Bharath Reddy was the son of former Panchayat Raj Teachers Union president Lakshma Reddy. The family plunged into deep sorrow on the death of the youngster.
