Chittoor submerges in rainwater

Chittoor: Due the continuous rains from the past one week most parts of Chittoor District have submerged in floods. Most parts of the district have received a rainfall of 44mm already. KVB Puram has received highest rainfall in the district with 143.8mm.

Several low-lying villages have submerged completely, forcing the residents to move out of their houses.
Damaged highways are making life more difficult for the people stranded in the rain water as it is becoming impossible for them to leave their villages and towns. Supply of a daily needs was also stopped due to the damage of the highways.

Crops in around 12,000 hectares of land have been damaged due to flood. Four gates in Araniyar Project, two gates in Krishnapuram, two gates in Bahuda project and 6 gates in NTR project have been lifted for releasing excess water.

It is reported that the district will receive heavy rainfall for four more days.
