Chennaites Brace For More Rains; Schools, Colleges Shut 

Chennai: Schools and colleges were closed on Tuesday as people of Chennai were preparing to face heavy rains following Indian Meteriological Department's forecast that the city would receive heavy rains for the next four days.

So far, a person was killed in Thanjavur district following the incessant rains that have been lashing several parts of the state. The District Collectors of Chennai and Kancheepuram announced that schools and colleges will remain closed on Tuesday.

Several parts of Chennai witnessed heavy water-logging and low-lying areas were inundated due to rains for the past a few days. Chennai airport and surrounding area recorded 5cm rainfall till 8.30pm on Monday.
