Chandrababu’s Career, A Series Of Betrayals And Flip-Flops: YSRCP

Amaravati: The YSR Congress Party stated that it was boycotting the all-party meeting convened by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu as he was untrustworthy and inconsistent. In a press release the party said that it did not wish to be a part of Chandrababu's devious plans marked by constant flips and u-turns on issues, importantly on the Special Category Status. "How can the AP Chief Minister who had earlier left no stone unturned to water down the burning SCS issue, now appear to be spearheading the struggle?", it questioned. The decision on abstaining from the all-party meeting was taken by Leader of Opposition in AP and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who discussed the issue with senior leaders of the party, the note said.

The party could not be a part of Chandrababu Naidu's conspiracies, it said. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had clearly stated in September 2016 that SCS could not be granted to AP. He repeated the same thing when TDP snapped its ties recently. Chandrababu had lauded Jaitley's statement the first time around and had even moved a resolution in the AP assembly showering praises on the Centre. In fact, all over AP, Chandrababu came down heavily on all protests and demonstrations for Special Category Status, it said. His call for SCS now was ironic and lacked moral merit.
Meanwhile, YSRCP MLAs Kakani Govardhan Reddi and Anil Kumar Yadav faulted Chandrababu Naidu for enacting another drama yet again on the subject of Special Category Status to the state. Chandrababu was the prime accused in the matter of SCS to AP, who was now trying to play judge and jury, they observed. It was in line with the flip-flops which have marked his career.

For four years Chandrababu had been enacting all kinds of dramas, but when the YSRCP moved the no-trust vote, he was completely checkmated and stood exposed. Per force, he began to talk of SCS out of nowhere, they pointed out. For Chandrababu to now convene an all-party meeting is akin to the prime accused in a case trying to play judge and examining witnesses, they said.
The YSRCP legislators pointed out that the BJP and Jana Sena, which had allied with Chandrababu in the past, and have distanced themselves from him, are now being vocal about his corruption. Clearly rattled by their strident attacks and unable to rebut their criticism, Chandrababu is resorting to attacking the YSRCP, they said.

Goverdhan Reddy and Anil Kumar Yadav pointed out that the YSRCP remained consistent in its stand on the Special Category Status and had waged a lone, relentless battle for SCS under the leadership of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The party had announced the dates of resignations of its Lok Sabha MPs and no-trust vote well ahead.

In contrast, Chandrababu's career was marked by a series of betrayals. TDP MPs Sujana Chowdary and CM Ramesh were seen trying to plead their party's case with PM Modi in an attempt to mend their bridges with the senior alliance partner. Chandrababu who brushed the subject of SCS away lightly suddenly started singing its praises, walked out of the NDA, pledged his support to YSRCP's no-trust vote move and later backtracked and announced that the TDP would move a similar motion. People will expose Chandrababu Naidu for the opportunist he is, the YSRCP MLAs asserted.
