Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu visited the state secretariat in Hyderabad after a gap of three months on Saturday. Ever since the Cash for Votes scandal, Chandrababu has confined himself to Vijayawada and has been conducting video conferences from there.
After the prolonged absence, he held a review meeting with the heads of various departments.
Later, the chief minister also reviewed the performance indicators of various departments. Several ministers also participated in the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, he said unauthorised and haphazard constructions in Nellore is one of the causes for the district being submerged in flood waters.
However, the interlinking of rivers and ground water improvement programmes is giving good results, Chandrababu Naidu said. Anantapur district has witnessed a dramatic increase in ground water levels, he said and added that the increase was the highest in the last 20 years.
