New Delhi: Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu sold stake in ration shops to private entities such as Future Group and Reliance industries, YSRCP MP Vijaysai Reddy said.

Speaking to presspersons, here on Friday, he said, Chandrababu's family has stake in the Future Group and that is the reason most of the ration shops in the Vijayawada-Guntur section have been given to them. About 6,000 ration shops, that used to sell essential commodities to the people, are now given to these private companies on a pilot basis, the MP said. "During the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy regime, 13 essential commodities were sold in the ration shops. However, in the past four years the ration shops are being turned into shopping malls by the TDP government. They are not beneficial to the common man in their present role," he said.

The chief minister's complaints on the Central government has made him a laughing stock for the common man, Vijayasai said. "He is complaining about the Union Budget now, whereas he should be questioning the Central government prior to the budget presentation and got the rightful share for Andhra Pradesh," the MP said.

Private Bill For BCs

YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy introduced a private member bill in the Rajya Sabha, on Friday, for reservation in education and employment for the BCs. There are 55 percent BCs in the country whereas their representation is less than 20 percent in local bodies, he said. Therefore, the private member bill was introduced recommending a population-wise reservation system, he added.
