Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister changed his tune yet again--this time on the Polavaram project. In the light of serious allegations of corruption with regard to the process of tenders and construction work related to the project, Chandrababu presented a fresh version to the AP assembly.According to Naidu, it was at the behest of Niti Ayog that the Centre had assigned the work to the AP government. The state government did not pitch for it, he said.

Chandrababu, had in the past, stated to the cabinet and the assembly that the Centre had assigned the Polavaram construction work only upon the request of the state government. His latest statement therefore, came as a shock to members of other parties.

Speaking in the Assembly today, Chandrababu tried to put up a brave front saying that he had seen the bifurcation crisis and other challenges in the past. He claimed that the TDP had asked for Special Category Status to AP for ten years. Chandrababu tried to play victim claiming he was being attacked, hinting at the BJP's role in all-round criticism he has been facing. He accused the senior ally of mounting a campaign against him, instead of extending its cooperation, as promised.

Chandrababu claimed that he made no promises with respect to compensation on land acquisition and resettlement.
