Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the Telugu Desam drama in Parliament from his tour in Dubai, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said.

Addressing a press meet at Andhraratna Bhavan in the city, on Sunday, he said the TDP is not serious about amendments to the AP Bifurcation Act. "Since four years, the TDP president did not take any action to bring changes to the Bifurcation Act. However, he says that the Act has loopholes. Clearly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chandrababu are hand-in-glove about the drama staged by the TDP MPs in the Parliament," he said.

The Prime Minister, during his trip to Tirupati promised Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh, Ramesh said and added that former PM Manmohan too insisted on SCS for AP. Vice president Venkaiah Naidu is also on record for advocating SCS for AP, Jairam Ramesh reminded on the occasion. However, the Modi government is now stating that the 14th Finance Commission is against SCS which is a blatant lie from the Central government, he added. "The people want to know the Modi government's hesitation in granting SCS to AP when 11 other states are already in the SCS category. In 2019, when the Congress government assumes office the first signature will be on SCS," he added.
