Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu continued his u-turns on the issue of Special Category Status (SCS).

The CM once again went back from Special Package to Special Status, only this time it was in the state Assembly. On Tuesday, the TDP government passed a resolution asking the Central government to implement all the provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 including the SCS. It was in the same Assembly, that the chief minister strongly advocated the need for Special Package and listed out its advantages over SCS. The TDP resolution in the Assembly assumes significance in view of the consistent demands of the opposition party YSRCP for SCS. While the YSRCP has stuck to its stance over SCS and implemented a phase-wise agitation, the TDP continues to oscillate between Special Package and SCS.

Political analysts state that the impending state elections in 2019 and the people's movement for SCS led by Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy forced Chandrababu to lean towards SCS.
