Case in HRC on Yerran Naidu’s tragic death

A Rights activist knocked at the door of the State Human Rights Commission (HRC) seeking action against those responsible for the tragic death of senior TDP leader and former Union minister K Yerran Naidu in a road accident yesterday.

Alleging that the ambulance that shifted a seriously injured Yerran Naidu to the KIMS Hospital did not have an oxygen cylinder, which is a basic requirement in any emergency medical van. “This clearly shows the utter negligence of the medical authorities in the State,” the petitioner, Dhana Gopal, a human rights activist in the State said in his complaint.
Dhana Gopal said in his petition that both the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the 108 service are indirectly responsible for the tragic death of Yerran Naidu.
Immediately responding to the petition, the HRC directed the District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) of Srikakulam district to reply before November 12. The HRC asked him to give proper clarification on the matter before the deadline.
Yerran Naidu succumbed to serious injuries that he suffered when his Mahindra Xylo met with an accident on National Highway No 5 between Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam in the small hours of yesterday.
