Case filed against 21 Andhra MPs at Muzaffarpur

A complaint case was today filed in a court in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district against 21 MPs from Andhra Pradesh on charge of sedition and other offences for bringing Indian democracy to disrepute.

In the complaint case filed in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) S.P. Singh under sections 504, 323, 124B, 308 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code, a local advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha has charged these 21 MPs, including three unnamed ones, with bringing Indian democracy to shame by using pepper spray on fellow members and scuffling with them  in the Lok Sabha during introduction of the Telangana statehood bill yesterday.

The petitioner alleged that instead of enhancing reputation of the country and Indian democracy, these parliamentarians have brought shame to the institution by indulging in unprecedented activities like using pepper spray and indulging in fisticuffs with other members, besides breaking mikes and other equipment on the table of the Speaker and the Secretary General and brandishing knife in the house.

Ojha said that he felt hurt by the conduct of these MPs while watching them indulge in shameful activities in the Parliament yesterday and reading about it in the newspapers subsequently.

The Petitioner pleaded with the court to take cognizance of the shameful conduct of the accused MPs which amounted to sedition and issue summons against them. The CJM has posted the matter for hearing on March 7.
