Bypolls for 33 assembly seats, but no election for Allagadda!

Quite interestingly, the election commission is holding elections for Nandigama assembly constituency, where the victorious TDP candidate died of cardiac arrest.

The Election Commission on Saturday announced that bypolls would be held for 33 vacant assembly seats in various states. Bypoll would also be held to Medak Lok Sabha seat vacated by TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao after he became the first Chief Minister of Telangana state.

Bypolls would be held to the Lok Sabha seats vacated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on September 13.
But the poll panel has not yet announced bypoll for Allagadda assembly constituency which fell vacant following the untimely death of YSRCP leader Bhuma Shobha Nagi Reddy in a road accident.
Shobha died in a car crash during the campaigning on April 24. She was elected to Andhra Pradesh assembly from Allagadda by nearly 18,000 votes defeating her rival G. Prabhakar Reddy of the TDP.
Quite interestingly, the election commission is holding elections for Nandigama assembly constituency, where the victorious TDP candidate died of cardiac arrest.
As per the schedule, EC said while filing of nominations will start from August 20. The last date of filing nomination is August 27. While bypolls will be held on September 13, the counting will be held on September 16. EC proposes to complete the election exercise by September 19.
