Five Children Die in Separate Instances of Drowning

Machilipatnam (AP): Two minor siblings drowned in a pond at Pochemaplli village in Krishna district, police said on Sunday.

The mishap occurred last evening when Upendra (7) entered the pond along with buffaloes after grazing them in a field, police said, adding that Upendra' sister Triveni (11) also drowned in a bid to save her brother. The bodies have been fished out from the pond, police said. Upendra and Triveni were students of class III and VI, respectively. A case of accidental death case has been registered by police.

Three Boys Drown in Well

Hyderabad: Three boys, including two brothers, drowned in an agricultural well in Mahabubnagar district of Telangana on Sunday, police said.

The incident occurred at around 11:30 am when P Sai Kumar (10), his younger brother P Shiv Kumar (8) and their cousin K Shiv Kumar entered the well for bath at Kothapet under Hanwada police station limits, Inspector Rajeshwar Goud said. He said the boys entered the well thinking that it was not deep but all of them drowned one after another. The bodies have been retrieved, the officer said.
