Bengaluru: Eight persons including bride-to-be Divya Kuradekar were killed and 22 injured after the bus they were travelling in collided head-on with a van on Thursday.
The accident occurred when a speeding private bus rammed into a van carrying a marriage party at Annabeelu Cross in Uttara Kannada district. The deceased were identified as N. Palakshi(42), Baby Kom(38), NB Ganigera(44), AS Sunil Seth(25), Divya Kuradekar(28), Pooja Seth(24), R. Krishnappa Seth(65) and Umesh Valmiki(35).
Two children aged nine and six years were among the injured. They were admitted to a private hospital in Kundapur. At least 30 passengers in the bus, however, escaped unhurt. Divya Kuradekar's wedding was fixed for Friday at Dharmasthala, a pilgrim centre in Dakshina Kannada district.
The police registered a case and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
