AP lawyers want Cherry booked

The Telangana Advocates' Joint Action Committee (TAJAC) approached the Hyderabad police on Tuesday seeking a suo-motu case registration against Union Minister K Chiranjeevi's actor-son Ram Charan Teja and his bodyguards for allegedly beating up two software professionals.

Incidentally, the incident comes in the wake of the Supreme Court issuing a stay order on the release of the 'Zanjeer' remake, which actors Priyanka Chopra and Teja.

Led by its co-convener, T Sriranga Rao, TAJAC leaders gave a representation to Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma and sought booking a case against Teja and his private bodyguards for beating up techies Kalyan and Phanish last Sunday.

The techies had accused Teja of getting them assaulted by his bodyguards at Banjara Hills area here, after an argument over giving side to the actor's vehicle. They, however, did not lodge any complaint with the police and asserted that it was a normal incident and it was the end of the matter and they did not want to exaggerate the incident. After submitting the representation, Sriranga Rao told reporters that several newspapers carried photos of Kalyan and Phanish being kicked and beaten.

He claimed that the techies at the Banjara Hills police station were threatened and intimidated in the police station to not lodge any complaint. The police commissioner told us that he will initiate action only if Kalyan and Phanish come forward and lodge a complaint, Sriranga Rao said, adding that if no case is registered, he will move the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking registration of a case. Techies Phanish and Kalyan said that, last Sunday, as they drove towards Panjagutta and stopped their car at a traffic junction after the red signal, a car behind their's repeatedly honked in order to go ahead.
