Twitterati Feels ‘Thappad’ Is A Slap On Kabir Singh Film

The makers of the film 'Thappad' released its trailer on Friday which is already winning million hearts. Starring the bold and beautiful, Taapsee Pannu, Thappad is directed by Anubhav Sinha. The trailer tells the story of a woman who decides to divorce her husband after he slaps her.

It's all about Taapsee Pannu's massive transformation from a happy-go-lucky girl to a strong woman after she meets with a humiliating incident.

The hard-hitting first look poster and the trailer received an amazing response from the audience and the netizens couldn't stop themselves from pouring hearts and love and appreciated Taapsee's amazing performance in the trailer. Some of the netizens called it as a tight slap on Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy's director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's face.

The slap scene in the blockbuster film Kabir Singh became the most controversial talk of the town after its release. Though it received a good response, many of the netizens had criticised it for the 'violence in the name of love'.

Post-release of Kabir Singh, Sandeep Vanga Reddy in one of the interviews said, "When you are deeply in love and deeply connected with a woman, and vice versa, there's a lot of honesty in it. If you don't have that physical demonstration... you don't have the liberty of slapping each other, then I don't see anything there."

Reddy's controversial comment was criticised widely for normalising violence against women in the name of love.

In sharp contrast, Taapsee's film Thappad shows that it is never okay to hit a woman. Not even once. And it is certainly not okay to expect the woman to be tolerant of this kind of behaviour, adjust around it and in the name of moving on, brush it under the carpet without addressing it.
