Salman is not the only the star to have been caught on the wrong side of the law
The adage 'no one is above law' fits apt in the recent case of Salman Khan. The actor has been awarded five year jail term in the 20-year-old blackbuck case. Appearing before a court isn't a new thing for Salman Khan. Who can forget his involvement in the infamous hit-and-run case? Being a celebrity not brings you fame but also keeps you in the public eye. Your every move is scrutinised, and judged and emulated.
Salman is not the only the star to have been caught on the wrong side of the law. We bring you some other noted B-town actors who had their share of bad times too. Here we go:
1. Sanjay Dutt
He not only played Khalnayak on screen but he was considered one off screen too thanks to his link to the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case which killed over 200 people. Sanjay Dutt had to spend life behind bars.
2. Madhur Bhandarkar
The Chandni Bar director got embroiled in the infamous casting couch controversy after Preeti Jain accused him of allegedly raping her.
3. Suniel Shetty
The ‘Anna’ of Bollywood was involved in a legal fight after a businessman filed a cheque bounce case against Suniel , who was one of the directors of Hyundai India Telecom Limited (HITL).
4. Fardeen Khan
Son of legendary actor Feroz Khan was caught buying drugs from an unknown person.
5. Shiney Ahuja
The actor whose career had merely began came to a grinding halt after being accused of rape by his maid. Thereafter, he had no film offers.
6. Saif Ali Khan
The scion of Pataudi family, Saif Ali Khan, landed in jail following a scuffle with an unknown man who asked Saif, Kareena and Mailaka to talk low at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai.
7. Monica Bedi
Considered to be a close aide of don Abu Salem, she spent five years in jail in passport forgery case.
8. Akshay Kumar
His wife’s unbuttoning act at Lakme Fashion Week invited trouble for Mr Khiladi Akshay Kumar, who landed in jail.
9. John Abraham
This model-turned-actor ended up in jail for 15 days for killing two people due to negligent driving.
10. Sonali Bendre
Celebrities are unaware that their carefree photoshoots too can invite trouble. In one such case Sonali Bendre was arrested for her inappropriate dressing for a magazine cover. Activist groups alleged that it hurt their religious sentiments.
