Nalgonda: In a major breakthrough in the sensational murder of Boddupalli Srinivas, the husband of Nalgonda municipal body chairperson Boddupalli Lakshmi, call data records that went public on Saturday point an accusing finger at TRS MLA Vemula Veeresham.

On the fateful day of the incident (January 24), the MLA's brother Sudhir and son Ranjith were in constant touch with the accused Rambabu and Mallesh - the call data indicates. The revelation lends credence to the accusations made by Congress leader Komatireddy Venkatreddy against the MLA. Also, the slow pace of investigations by the district police supports the accusations of the Congress party.

According to the call data records, Sudhir and Ranjith were updated on Srinivas' every move throughout the day and right untill the time of murder between 11:50 pm and 12:10 am. The dispute at the roadside eatery between the accused and the deceased was also informed to Sudhir and Ranjith. On January 24, accused Mallesh (9533423191) received several phone calls from Sudhir (7013863277), from Sudhir's friend Sampath ((9966449992), from second accused Rambabu (9885056608). Interestingly, all the calls to and from the accused lasted less than 59 seconds. Further, Mallesh also received scores of SMSes on the morning after the murder - January 25 - from Sudhir, Ranjith, Rambabu and Sampath.

Investigating officer CI Venkateshwarulu

The slow-paced police investigation into the case is also under scrutiny. On January 24, police were informed about the altercation between deceased Srinivas and the accused by the roadside eatery owner Yadaiah. However, no action was taken by the police who did not bother to visit the spot. Secondly, when municipal body chairperson Boddupalli Lakshmi went to the police station to file a complaint about her missing husband, she found Srinivas's aide Mohan there. It was Mohan, who informed her and the police about the murder. Police personnel, Mohan and Lakshmi then rushed to the scene of crime and discovered Srinivas's body. Strangely, police stated in their FIR report that Lakshmi informed them about the murder. Questions are being raised about why the FIR was written that way. To top these two instances, is the recent disappearance and subsequent reappearance of investigating officer CI Venkateshwarulu has only added doubts about the police investigations.

After 11 days of the murder, the case has not seen any progress though TRS MLA Vemula Veeresham is being accused by the Congress, the call data records are in the open and a reluctant investigating officer claims he went for a break from police work.
