Blaming Wife’s Beauty For Her Extra-Marital Affair, Man Throws Acid On Her Face

Bengaluru: An auto driver who suspected that his wife was having an affair, blamed it all on her beauty and threw acid on her face on Friday in the city.

The accused Channegowda(42) is living with his wife Manjula and two children at Banshankari. Manjula is working in a garment company and her husband is an auto driver. Suspecting his wife having an extra-marital relationship with her colleague, Channegowda would torture her regularly. As he suspected that her beauty is the reason for all this mess, the auto driver decided to make her unattractive.

On Friday, after the couple had a quarrel, Channegowda poured acid on her face. After hearing Manjula’s cries, the neighbors rushed her to a hospital and informed the police. The victim was undergoing treatment at a hospital. About 50 percent of her face was burnt and she lost her left eye.

The State Women's Commission Chairman Nagalakshmi Bai visited hospital to console her. A check of Rs3 lakh was given to the victim and she also promised to sanction her Rs3,000 pension per month and Rs20 lakh to her for medical treatment.

The police registered a case and are trying to nab the auto driver who fled after the incident.
