Lucknow: BJP leader in Uttar Pradesh and former basic education minister Ravindra Shukla was on Thursday attacked with acid in Jhansi city.
Shukla and five of his gun-wielding security men were scalded in the attack, barely 100 metres from the Kotwali police station. Kotwali police station chief C.P. Dubey has been transferred to police lines for deriliction of duty.
The attackers also pelted stones and damaged the car of the minister. Senior Superintendent of Police Manoj Tiwari said the security gunman who played a crucial role in saving the minister will be awarded Rs.5,000.
