Rajahmundry: BJP MLC Somu Veerraju, on Tuesday, blamed the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for twisting facts on the special package granted to Andhra Pradesh by the Central government.

The TDP claimed that the Centre had cheated the people of Andhra Pradesh by allocating meager funds in the Union Budget, while the BJP leader alleged that the TDP had been making false claims over the special package. Speaking to media persons on Tuesday, Somu Veerraju came down heavily on the TDP leadership. He alleged that the state government is adopting a dual approach of criticising the BJP, by maintaining a friendly relationship. He expressed anger over the TDP friendly-media outlets which have not been questioning Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu over the matter.

The senior BJP leader claimed that about 80 per cent of funds were already released to Andhra Pradesh so far and the Centre has time till 2022 to release the remaining funds to the state. However, the BJP MLC found fault with the TDP leaders for making vocal criticism against the Centre's financial help to the state.

The BJP is ready to prove and put on paper about the development that is taking place in the state. Somu Veerraju threw a challenge to the TDP by inviting it for an open debate over the matter. He questioned as to why some of the media channels are focusing on the BJP leaders in the state rather than questioning the Chief Minister.
