Hyderabad: Bithiri Sathi, the anchor who entertains audience with his own kind of lingo in Teenmar News on V6 TV channel, was attacked by a man who blamed him of distorting and degrading Telangana's Telugu.

The man, identified as Manikantha(26) from Kalasiguda in Secunderabad attacked Kavali Ravikumar or Chevella Ravikumar popularly known as Bithiri Sathi, at V6 channel office at Banjara Hills on Monday. The attacker, shouting slogans Jai Bharat and Jai Telangana and condemning the anchor's alleged comments in a program, hit Sathi with a helmet on his head. The anchor sustained injuries on his head and was rushed to Star hospital for treatment. His condition is stable, doctors said.

Bithiri Sathi became very popular with his slang and mannerisms on Teenmaar News, a satirical show on V6 Telugu news channel. He also acted in a few movies as a comedian.

Manikanta, who appears to be mentally unstable, told a media channel that he attacked Sathi as he was insulting Telangana Talugu. The attacker was waiting for Ravi at his office and lounged on him immediately when he turned up.

The attacker was talking incoherently. He says, “I want to become a writer cum director, but after seeing this issue, I thought of forsaking my dream and focusing on this issue which is pertinent. Today, I came to burn down the channel. I’m willing to go to jail for my people.”
