A ceremony called Bhoomi pooja was performed amidst Vedic hymns for construction of Rajagopuram (temple tower) at Srikalahasteeswara Swamy temple, 36 km from Tirupati in Chittoor district.
It was second such pooja after the Rajagopuram was caved in on May 26, 2010 alleged to be due to vibrations of bore well digging in the vicinity of the temple to a depth of 600 feet. Earlier, bhoomi puja was performed, but the works came to a halt for some reasons. Now, the temple authorities began the work for re-building the temple tower. The temple was constructed in the 12the centuary by Rajaraja Narendra, the king of Chola dynasty.
