BEL to Set Up Rs 300-Cr Factory in AP

Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) will make advanced night vision products at the proposed factory at Nimmaluru village near Machilipatnam.

Bengaluru: Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has decided to set up an Advanced Night Vision Products factory in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh. The factory, coming up at Nimmaluru village near Machilipatnam, will be the largest such facility in the country once commissioned. The proposed factory will be set up over 50 acres.

Union Minister for Urban Development and Information and Broadcasting Venkaiah Naidu will lay the foundation stone for this facility on September 19 in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and others, according to a release from BEL.

SK Sharma, CMD, BEL, said: “The new facility will be built in stages with an estimated investment of about Rs 300 crore over a four-year period. The new facility has been planned now to establish a state-of-the-art factory to cater to the futuristic requirements for Night Vision Products.”

Union Minister for Urban Development and Information and Broadcasting Venkaiah Naidu will lay the foundation stone for the BEL facility on September 19.

The factory will enable BEL expand its Electro-Optics business and carry out manufacturing and integration for ongoing and upcoming projects, the company said. BEL is coming up with a modern Defence Systems Integration Complex at Palasamudram in Ananthapur district of Andhra Pradesh to give further thrust to indigenous development and production of future defence systems, Sharma said.
