Bayyaram Mines is the right of Telangana

TRS leader and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao on Saturday demanded that Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and main opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu should clarify their stand on the Bayyaram Mines issue.

Speaking to the media at Telangana Bhavan, the TRS MLA said that both Kiran Reddy and Naidu were working with the same agenda. He questioned the need to set up a plant in Visakhapatnam when Khammam had abundant mineral resources.

"A steel plant at Vizag and a cleaning plant in Khammam?" asked Harish Rao, adding, "You will take dolomite from Khammam and give dust to Telangana?."  Stating that Telangana had a right over Bayyaram Mines, he warned against moving even a single mineral block to Visakhapatnam. He also said Telangana people were ready to sacrifice their lives for it.

He threatened to stage dharnas at the Telangana ministers' homes if they failed to respond to this issue.

Meanwhile, Congress minister TG Venkatesh found no fault with the Bayyaram Mines being allotted to Vishakha steel plant. Saying they were making a big issue out of nothing, he said that mines were transferred for benefit of the Telugu speaking people.

On the other hand, TDP leaders said that they met the Chief Minister today to stress that they hadn't agreed to transfer mines to Vishakha. They asked the CM to keep  Bayyaram mines to Telangana.
