Bandicoots feast on body in mortuary in Nizamabad

That rats, cats and dogs coexist with patients in government hospitals is no news. But, here is something that is sure to shock you.

A body kept in the mortuary of Kamareddy Government Hospital in Nizamabad was devoured and mutilated beyond recognition by bandicoots.

On Thursday, Erla Pandari of Devunipalli village of Sonturu mandal died on the spot after being hit by a boar. His body was kept in the mortuary and his family members were informed a day later. When they reached the mortuary, they were aghast seeing the skin and flesh of Pandiri badly eaten away. When they asked the staff members, they sought to know what happened, they were told that bandicoots have eaten parts of the body.
Socked by this, the family members staged a dharna at the hospital protesting against the negligence of the staff. A tense situation prevailed at the hospital and police had to be called in.
