Bandh in YSR district to protest bifurcation of state

YSR district shut down today to protest against bifurcation of state. Shops, educational institutions and business establishments remained closed and a bandh is being observed in the district as Samaikhyandhra activists are putting pressure on the Congress High Command to keep Andhra Pradesh a unified state.

APSRTC buses stayed off the roads.  Some students of JAC, along with politicians from several parties and lawyers launched a sit-in protest in front of the collectorate.

In the morning, some angry activists stopped vehicles on road and deflated tires.

State-owned Road Transport Corporation (RTC) suspended majority of its bus services, while auto rickshaws also stopped plying.

Activists say that they would continue their agitation till the Centre declares Andhra Pradesh a unified state. They also warned that the state would turn into an 'Agnikundam' should it be divided.
