Multi-faceted star Kamal Haasan, who has always been vocal on social issues, strongly favoured the revoking of ban on Jallikattu, the traditional bull sport played in Tamil Nadu. He said that those who think the Jallikattu leads to cruelty to animals should stop consuming biryani as well as slaughtering of animals is cruelty.

“If you want a ban on jallikattu, let’s also ban biryani,” Kamal opined at the recently held India Today Conclave, adding that he is one the few actors who has played the bull sport and is proud of the tradition.

The 62-year-old actor said that the bull sport is not similar to the Spanish bull sport. The bulls in Jallikattu are not harmed and in fact they are treated like Gods.

“It is about taming the bull and not creating physical harm by breaking its horns or other body parts," he said.

The Supreme Court banned Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu in May 2014 citing cruelty to bulls.
