Assembly Privileges Committee Issues Notice to YSRCP MLA Roja

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly's Privileges Committe on Saturday issued a notice to YSR Congress MLA R.K. Roja asking her to attend an inquiry on April 6.

The inquiry is reported to be on a complaint filed by ruling TDP MLA Anita alleging that Roja had made unparliamentary comment on her in the House.

Roja did not attend the Privileges Committee inquiry twice earlier on health reasons, but this time she is likely to defend her case.

Roja was suspended from the Assembly for a year in December last over the language used by her against the chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. When she approached the Supreme Court challenging the suspension, the Apex Court directed the state High Court to look into the matter and it was decided in her favor.

However, the Assembly had challenged the decision before a division bench of the High Court and it was stayed. The YSRCP MLA again moved the Supreme Court challenging the High Court's stay on the previous stay on her suspension.

The Supreme Court has admitted Roja's appeal and the hearing is scheduled for Monday/Tuesday.
