Army Jawan Came To Attend Exams Killed In Road Accident

Recently Srikanth had visited home and spent time with family for a few days before leaving for Kashmir. He also spoke with his father Rajaiah on phone on the Dasara day about ritual that he owed to perform.

Ramagundam: A 21-year-old Army jawan, who is supposed to be in duty somewhere in India-Pakistan border, got killed in a road accident at Vedira village in Ramadugu mandal in Peddapalli district on Saturday.

The deceased, Srikanth, joined the Indian Army four years ago. Son of Katherla Rajaiah, a trammer in Singareni Colliries, Srikanth had studied in his native of Gangaram Nagar in Godavarikhani, Ramagundam. After death of his mother, he aimed for a job in the Army and secured a post in a technical wing in the Indian Army. Since then, Srikanth was working in Kashmir and visits his hometown once in a year.

Recently he had visited home and spent time with family for a few days before leaving for Kashmir. He also spoke with his father Rajaiah on phone on the Dasara day about ritual that he owed to perform.

Few days after Dasara, Srikanth failed to respond to the phone calls of his father. As he did not lift the calls, father Rajaiah thought that his son might be busy in his duty.

Meanwhile, Srikanth was killed following a collision between Tata Ace and a pulsar bike at Vedira village in the district on Saturday. Upon learning the news, parents were in shock since they were in the belief that their son was in Kashmir. During the investigation, it is learnt that Srikanth came to Karimnagar on a vacation to pursue degree. Srikanth had been residing in his friend's house in Karimnagar.
