Hyderabad: Only 46 percent of men (between age group of 26-29) in the city are currently married, says a Telangana Social Development Report 2017.

Prime age for getting married seems to be gradually fading away with the change in lifestyle and profession. While it has been a norm over the years to make the youngsters get ready for marriage in the ripe age, the present generation considers late marriages and "no marriage" sometime is a wiser decision.

When it comes to women, only 79 percent of them under the age group of (26-29) got married.

At the same time, 2.6 percentage of women under 18 years were married against the 3.7 percent of married women at the national level in 2011.

The data also revealed that women married below 18 years are seen in urban districts such as Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy.

About 30 percent of the total population in Telangana is residing in urban cities like Hyderabad and Warangal.

Although the sex ratio of male and female has increased in Telangana state in the last, dwindling figures in urbanised districts like Hyderabad (954), Ranga Reddy (961) and Mahbubnagar (977) is alarming.
