AP To Have People’s Govt In Two Years: YS Jagan

* People’s Government in two years. We will give compensation to the tribals within three months after coming to power.

* Chandrababu has more love for contractors than for those who sacrificed for the Polavaram project.

* By giving differential compensation, Chandrababu is trying to drive a wedge between the tribals and non-tribals.

Chandrababu and his ilk are branding anyone raising the issue of tribal displacement and failure to give relief and rehabilitation package as anti-development. But, Chandrababu Naidu is not sensitive to the problems of the tribals and the people displaced by the Polavaram project.

Charging Chandrababu Naidu with neglecting the tribal regions, he said: "The CM should be like a father for the hapless tribals. But, Chandrababu is not sensitive to the plight of tribals."

People's Government in Two Years: He said Finance Minister Yanamala's relative Sudhakar Yadav was awarded the contract. "Does his firm have the necessary compentance to build the project,"he questioned. He said though he and his party would fight for the rights of the tribals, he has no faith in Chandrababu Government. "He has more love for shady contractors than for the poor tribals. Why is there a cost escalation for Polavaram project though the rates of sand, cement and labourers have come down," he said. He said after two years, a people's government would come to power and it would compensate the tribals for their their losses within three months.

Backs Tribal Demands For Compensation: He said there were inequities in payment of compensation to the Polavaram project oustees. "While Pattiseema oustees are getting Rs 19.5 lakh per acre, the people in tribal areas are getting just Rs 7 lakh.” he said and demanded that the tribals too should be paid equal amount as compensation. He said the tribals' demands that all those 18 years of age as of today should be given the R and R package was fully justified. He also backed the tribal demand for compensation on par with the non-tribal farmers for taking away shifting cultivation lands.

Neglect of Tribal Areas: Listing the incidents of neglect of the tribal areas in Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan said the tribal welfare hostel at Rampachodavaram, which he visited on Wednesday, has no lavetories and no water facility. This shows how hallow Chandrababu's claim of constructing toilets in every schools. The teachers are not getting salaries for over two years, while the students are not getting scholarships. At Maredumilli PHC, only one doctor is present. There is no infrastructure at the PHCs. Of the 10 ambulances of 108 service, only three are working. As many as 14 tribals died of mysterious diseases and there is no one to take stock of the situation. As many as 15 infants died in Rajavommangi mandal alone due to malnutrition, he pointed out.

Two-Day Tribal Area Tour Ends: YS Jagan wound up his two-day tour of the East Godavari Agency areas. On the first day, he toured Rajavommangi and Rampachodavaram and addressed a public meeting at Rampachodavaram. On the second day, he has inspected Maredumilli PHC, where he expressed unhappiness at the lack of infrastructure. Later, she met the victims of a disease locally known as Kalla Rogam at Mamillagudem. At Rekhapalli, he met the project oustees and later addressed a public meeting. YSRCP MLC Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose, MLAs from the tribal areas and other party functionaries were present.
