Andhra Pradesh is going to get 450 additional seats in various medical colleges in the state in this year.

State health minister Kamineni Srinivas, who took charge of his ministry on Thursday, said that Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences in Tirupati would get 150 additional seats this academic year. Some private medical colleges in the state have been allotted the remaining 300 seats in this year.

“We are trying to get back 350 medical seats which were cancelled in the past,” said the minister.

He informed that they would request the Medical Council of India to conduct inspections in the state again.

“Once these inspections are done, there will be a chance of getting back these seats,” said the minister.

Srinivas said that he would announce the new fee structure in the medical colleges by Thursday evening.

“We will soon take a decision on continuing the ‘ArogyaSri’,” said Srinivas.
