AP students prefer Telangana medical colleges

Most of the PG Medical entrance top rankers from Andhra Pradesh are preferring to join the medical colleges located in Telangana state only and the Telangana students are objecting the same.

So far, about 500 seats were filled in the state through counseling and more than half of these students belongs to Andhra Pradesh.

With this, Telangana students are fearing that they will lose the chance of studying a PG medical course in their state.

On the other hand, medical education officials of Telangana state are expressing their inability on the issue. “The subject of professional college admissions is included in the 10th Schedule of AP Reorganisation Act -2014. As per the act, Andhra Pradesh students, who studied their MBBS course in Telangana, have to be considered as locals only in Telangana,” said the officials.

Telangana Director for Medical Education Dr.Putta Srinivas said that they would restart the PG medical counseling in the state from Sunday.

“We will fill all the seats in the state within 48 hours and start classes from July 10 following the directions of Medical Council of India and the Judgement of Supreme Court of India. We will act tough in the matter,” said the official.
